One Last Time

One of the most important things that I have learned during my time abroad is that the stereotype of Italians being considered a loud people is untrue. Americans are much louder and easy to spot in public due to our loud and obnoxious language dynamics. Additionally, I have learned that Italians treat food completely differently than we do in America. In Italy, there are more guidelines to what is acceptable to eat and when. One big difference is the use of eggs here, in Pienza, Max explained to us that eggs were not to be eaten before noon. Whereas in America, I eat eggs for almost every breakfast. One other item that I learned about Italian culture was that the traffic in Italy is crazy. In Florence, the traffic is wild, but nothing compared to Naples. While I was in Naples I gripped the safety latch in the car because I was scared for my life. One way that I have changed as a person is that I have began to appreciate food more, instead of using it as fuel for me, I now look at it as an art form. I hope to be able to bring this ability of appreciating good food more when I get home tomorrow. Being a Finance major, I rarely have to write for my classes at Miami. While I was abroad, I learned the importance of being to myself in writing and using it as a way to express my emotions. I also learned how to be creative in voicing my opinion, which I struggle doing in the United States because I am not usually around such a different culture. On the grammar side, I learned about comma splices, and the importance of avoiding them.
